Emma Barry (NZ/US)

A founding member of Les Mills Intl, Emma Barry has inhaled senior roles in group fitness programming, product development, global training and people & culture. Sought after speaker, published author and fitness business consultant, Emma is a global fitness authority and fluent in what happens next in fitness. Her #1 international bestselling book Building a Badass Boutique was launched on Amazon in Feb 2020 and considered the bible for businesses coming back strong, that comes with an online course by the same name.

Currently under lockdown in LA, and like many in the industry, most of Emma's work & travel commitments evaporated overnight. She's pivoted with all major fitness events to shift to virtual webinars, conferences and coaching. 

Billy Polson (US)

Billy Polson is a three time fitness entrepreneur and a business consultant for trainers and gym owners worldwide. In 2004, Billy founded San Francisco’s largest independent personal trainer facility, DIAKADI Fitness, awarded San Francisco’s ‘Top Trainers/Gym’ for 14 years. 

With the DIAKADI facility in mandatory lockdown since March 9th, Billy has spent the last few weeks coaching other studio owners and DIAKADI’s over 100 trainers on how to gain their footing in this unique environment, maintain a connected and compassionate relationship with clients as a newly virtual brand, and prepare for the uncharted adventure that we all have ahead as fitness business owners.

Kurt Fearnley AO

Australian wheelchair racer Kurt Fearnley AO is one of
Australia's most well known and respected athletes.

Winner of some of the world's most prestigious marathons, in London, Paris, Rome, Los Angeles, Chicago & New  York. The latter two, 5 times. He won the Paralympic men's wheelchair marathon in Athens in 2004 and retained his title in Beijing in 2008. In Athens he also won gold over the 5000m on the track. He was recently able to finish a 20 year representative career with a dominant Gold Medal performance at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, whilst also receiving the honour of carrying the Australian Flag into the Closing Ceremony.

honours in 2011 on board the yacht Loyal. However he is most well known for his amazing feat of crawling the 96km Kokoda track.

Paul Taylor

A former British Royal Navy Aircrew Officer, Paul is an Exercise Physiologist, Nutritionist and Neuroscientist who is currently completing a PhD in Applied Psychology, where he is developing and testing resilience strategies with the Australian Defence Science & Technology Group. He is the Director of The Mind-Body-Brain Performance Institute, where he delivers Executive Performance, Resilience and Leadership workshops to a large range of multinationals. In 2010 Paul created and co-hosted the TV series Body and Brain Overhaul, his BioAge software is used by a number of Australian and international health club chains and in 2010 and 2015, he was voted Australian Fitness Industry presenter of the year.

Paul also has a proven track record in leadership and dealing in high-pressure situations, through his former roles as an Airborne Anti-submarine Warfare Officer and a Helicopter Search-And-Rescue Crew Member with the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm, and has undergone rigorous Combat Survival and Resistance-to-Interrogation Training.

Dave Wright is the Creator and CEO of MYZONE® and the CEO & owner of Creative Fitness Marketing (CFM), a health club operator with multiple health clubs across two continents.

Dave is a the Chair of the UK Active Supplier Council, an international presenter, serial entrepreneur and featured regularly in international trade magazines such as Workout, Health Club Management and Club Business Canada. 

Dan Henderson

Emma Masters

Emma is a passionate, motivated and dedicated presenter, educator and consultant with 11 years’ experience in the health and fitness industry. She has worked across a multitude of senior management roles within Virgin Active Australia and UK, developing and training Virgin Active’s boutique products in both rhythm and metric based cycle, as well as implementing growth and change for instructors and business owners alike in the group fitness and boutique fitness space, speaking and educating globally. Evielyn Chapman

Evielyn is passionate about technology, digital media, and automation for fitness businesses. As head of digital brand at COM Marketing she has worked with hundreds of fitness businesses to get clear on their online presence. As one of the first ActiveCampaign certified consultants in Australia she knows a thing or two about how to streamline and automate businesses through marketing automation too.

Fiona Kriaris

Fiona Kriaris is the Health and Wellness Product Manager for YMCA Victoria which has over 50,000 gym members and 6,000 staff. She has been working in the industry for a decade, with exposure to various aspects of the business including being a fitness professional, leader in staff development and culture, facility management, and product development. With a dedicated focus on holistic wellbeing, Fiona’s studies extend internationally from UCLA at the Mindful Awareness Research Centre, being the first Australian with this global accreditation. She is currently working at the Y during lockdown despite 90% of the business being closed, navigating a national digital solution alongside a robust and vibrant team during these challenging times.

Hayley Hollander (US)

Hayley is an international coach, educator and consultant. She is co-founder of Pivotal - a global development company empowering people to fulfill their greatest potential, the Co-Director of Education for Gray Institute, Precor Master Coach, and Power Plate Master Trainer. Over her 20+ year career she has coached and educated thousands of clients, athletes and coaches from all over the world. She has been named a top 3 finalists for IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year, and chosen as the Fan Favourite for LifeFitness’ Personal Trainer to Watch.

Hayley’s leadership, programming, and content creation has influenced the masses. Her work has been integrated in health clubs all over the world, and has reached thousands via online learning platforms. 

Ish Cheyne (NZ)

Ish Cheyne’s fitness industry career spans over 25 years. Starting in sales, then PT and now as Head of Fitness for Les Mills New Zealand, Ish has a unique skill set in strategy and operational success.
After the devastating Christchurch earthquakes he learnt first-hand the effect of business disruption and having to rebuild from scratch, using that adversity and learning to rebuild his brand and value proposition and as a result his innovative approach to doing things ‘outside the box’ has developed paradigm shifts around the way Les Mills runs its fitness departments.

Jen Dugard

Jen is the founder of the award winning business and brand Body Beyond Baby. She has worked across many facets of the fitness industry for over 14 years and most recently sold her 'group exercise component'. Jen is an educator and mentor in the pre & postnatal and business space and prides herself in working with FitPro's to help them to overcome challenges within their business, build sold foundations and create businesses which support their whole life values. 

In this current climate she helped her 24 affiliate businesses pivot quickly and effectively into the virtual space with great success.

Joey Toutounji

Joey Toutounji has been in the health, wellness & fitness industry for 20 years. She is an Educator, Coach, Speaker, Author & Head Of Education at COM Marketing. Joey educates fitness pros to become marketing ninjas through her marketing programs and has worked with thousands in the industry to build a brand and double their income. Along with presenting regular workshops at COM, Joey has also presented for Mindbody, Speakers Institute Australia & Tupperware.

Justin Tamsett

Justin has been in the fitness industry since 1988 and a FILEX veteran speaking every year since 1999. As Australia’s most awarded industry speaker he shows his passion by ensuring every session has actions. Justin leads Australia's premiers Roundtable program & Chairs 4 US Roundtables. He is the owner of the Fitness Business Podcast and has a weekly Facebook live show: #JTInTheRaw! Julie Smerdon

Julie Smerdon is a writer and international yoga teacher who has been inspiring students for nearly two decades. Privileged to have studied under master teachers in both yoga and meditation, Julie offers these practices in a way that's accessible to everyone. Krista Popowych (CAN)

Krista Popowych (BHKin) is a fitness industry expert and global presenter on group fitness and training, indoor cycling and program management. Krista is the 2014 IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year and three-time canfitpro Canadian Fitness Presenter of the Year.

Mark Fisher (US)

Mark Fisher is an international speaker, consultant, and entrepreneur. Mark and his “non-sexual life partner” Michael Keeler founded Business for Unicorns in 2016 and since worked with clients like Sony Music, Novus Surgical, and the ACLU, as well as many leading fitness studios across the US, UK and Aus. He is also proud alumni speaker of TEDx Broadway.

Michael Piercy (US)

Michael Piercy, MS, CSCS is the owner of The LAB in Fairfield, New Jersey. He is the recipient of the 2017 IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year award and the 2013 TRX FACEUP award for Overall Instructor of the Year. 

A former professional athlete, he brings a unique perspective to his work with athletes and active adults. He holds a master's degree in exercise science with a concentration in performance enhancement, and multiple advanced level certifications.

Nardia Norman

Award-winning Nardia Norman has 20 years’ experience in coaching, education and personal training. Recipient of FILEX’s Presenter of the Year Award for 2018, Personal Trainer of the Year 2014 and an Australian Institute of Fitness Legend, Nardia has a strong history of consulting to small to medium sized fitness businesses and is a well-known industry influencer. Thea Baker

Thea has a background in women’s health fitness, starting as a specialist PT but now spends her time working in private practice as a Counsellor and Somatic Psychotherapist specialising in trauma. Thea has a special interest in working holistically, finding creative ways to combine physical and mental health which involves blending traditional talk therapies, mindfulness and movement focused strategies as well as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). 

In a world where uncertainty and change is now our everyday experience, Thea thrives when she is able to hold a space for her clients to explore what this means for their individual experience, and she has a passion for sharing the value of this connection with others in the health and wellbeing industry.

Travis Mattern

Travis is a qualified personal trainer with over 10 years experience, working in various settings. His niche and expertise is on Bootcamps and Functional Training. Travis is the Co-Founder of Fitness Education Online, the leading provider of online professional development for personal trainers and home to one of the largest Facebook communities of personal trainers in Australia, with over 10 000 members. He has since co-authored a book The Bootcamp Blueprint and presented on the topic internationally.

Jono Petrohilos

Jono is a qualified Exercise Physiologist and Fitness Australia registered Personal Trainer with over 15 years’ experience in the fitness industry, and has more recently focussed his attention on the social media aspect of the industry. Vanessa Leone

Vanessa has been moving and learning since her first swimming lesson at 6 mths old. Now with a Bachelor of Exercise Science & over 25 specialist courses of further education, she passes on her knowledge & passion. As well as presenting at fitness conferences in Aus & NZ, Vanessa is consulting for brands in maximising their businesses in all aspects of training & experience. She is known for her effervescence, precision and passion for betterment for all. During lockdown Vanessa has been busier than ever training clients in parks, online and consulting to small businesses. She has also continued training Virgin Active Trainers to give them confidence to adapt their businesses in this time. 

Chantal Brodrick

Chantal Brodrick worked in senior sales and marketing roles in the media industry for 15 years before transitioning careers. In 2008 she became a qualified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor and in 2015 she became the host of the The Fitness Business Podcast - the world's leading podcast for fitness business owners and managers.
In 2019 Chantal was appointed to the Fitness Australia Board of Directors and in the same year was recognised as 1 of 20 'Women Who Inspire' by IHRSA's Club Business International Magazine. Chantal is a featured speaker and emcee at industry events across the world including, IHRSA, FILEX, IDEA, Athletic Business Show and FITEX. 

Cam McDonald

Dr Cam McDonald is a Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist, PhD Scholar and a Leader in Personalised Health. He has a specific focus on supporting the fitness, health and medical industry in ensuring that every person they care for are treated and helped to thrive through a personalised health approach. Leading the world in the application of epigenetics (gene expression), his knowledge of how the mind, nutrition, fitness and environment interact will leave you with a super powered lens for client success.

Andrew Henshaw

Andrew is a director at Velocity Legal and leads the firm’s Sydney practice. If you are in a fight with the ATO or looking to restructure your business, you should have Andrew in your corner.
